Adriana's music is what she would call Americana-Celtica - a curious slant on the Americana and singer/songwriter genres, going beyond the usual with her unique, soaring vocals and evocative lyrics. She has worked this style into a diverse range of songs, from the introspective to all-out rock and roll. Working entirely independently, Adriana has already taken her music into Europe and the US, as well as having performed extensively in her native Scotland.

Adriana has begun work on her self-financed debut album at Park Lane Studios, in Glasgow (Scotland).

Born in Livingston of Italian/Scots parentage, Adriana (Spina) emerged onto the live music scene proper in early 2005, armed with just an acoustic guitar, a classically-trained voice and a stunning collection of songs she had been writing since her teenage years. Attracting scores of compliments thanks to her unique sound, she quickly built up an impressive series of gigs around central Scotland and beyond.

Adriana began singing from a very early age – despite her parent's increasing exasperation, she continued to sing more than she talked as a child, wrapping her voice around anything she could find, from made up songs to songs from the radio to theme tunes from the TV (Cheers and The Golden Girls were early favourites)! Her poor mum and dad had a 24-7 soundtrack, courtesy of their own little jukebox. She grew up and went to school in a very normal manner in Livingston (not far from Edinburgh, Scotland), continuing to live every day with music. At primary school she took up cornet and later, tenor horn, a pursuit that took her to performances all over the world, including a show at the Sydney Opera House at the age of 17. She was heavily involved in schools music projects at regional level, as a member of traditional brass bands and choirs.

As she entered her early teens, Adriana was awakened to the genre of singer/songwriter when she heard a Tori Amos track on the radio. Immediately, she realised that this was what she should be doing. From then on, she has taught herself guitar and piano, honed her songwriting skills. At 16, Adriana co-founded local Livingston rock band Drain Smile, who enjoyed local success until their dissolution in 1997. Adriana started studying for her MA(Hons) in Philosophy at the University of Glasgow in 1996, so Drain Smile's demise allowed her to concentrate on her studies, whilst continuing to refine her writing and train her voice, a process that she maintained following her graduation in 2000.

Early in 2005, Adriana armed herself with her guitar and hit the road. Armed with the ethos of "if you want something done right, do it yourself", she embarked on a tireless schedule of gigging and writing and gigging some more that has taken her up and down the UK, as well as to the USA and Europe along the way, playing with the likes of Paolo Nutini, Rory McLeod, Tracy Bonham, Oh Susanna!, Jack Savoretti and Dar Williams.

Using the platform of her own label, Adesso Records, in June 2006 she released her download only single "Fire In Me". This release followed from the success and critical acclaim of her first release, "A Thousand Lives EP" in August 2005, also released independently.

Work on Adriana's first full-length album is currently underway and is scheduled for release in 2008. She is recording this on an independent basis through her own record label, but is looking to license it to a partner label for commercial release.
